Safety:


Be an advocate for safety and lead by example.  Incorporate safety into all work activities and products, including field activities and project designs.  Ensure that safe practices and procedures are communicated to all employees and incorporated and followed in all activities.


Pipeline Maintenance & Operation Support


  1. Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of pipeline assets in assigned geographic areas, including oversight of all pipeline work activity.
  2. Promptly review and respond to conflicts that arise with the gas transmission pipeline.
  3. Provide real-time day-to-day engineering solutions, technical support, and responses for damage prevention, dig-ins, leaks, overpressure events, equipment failures, pipeline repairs and other emergency events, include design and implement immediate repairs to restore pipeline service.
  4. Manage data requests for gas transmission assets such as class location study reviews, MAOP validation requests and GIS data integrity reviews.
  5. Promptly respond to potential pressure reduction situations to insure public safety.


Emergency Response


  1. Support and participate in emergency response and incident command scenarios within assigned geographic areas and support other regions as needed.
  2. Rotate in the 24/7 on-call engineer assignment.


Capital and Expense Projects:


  1. Identify and prioritize work to improve the overall health of the gas transmission system.
  2. Work closely with other groups within Gas Operations to prioritize project work and ensure clear expectations and achievable milestones are established for all projects.
  3. For non-project type work (projects that are not assigned to Project Engineering Design):
  4. Ensure all project work complies with 49CFR Part 192 and PG&E Standards and Procedures.
  5. Ensure all project work incorporates industry best practices with an emphasis on safety and compliance while ensuring a reliable and cost effective end result.
  6. Provide engineering review and input on conceptual designs, design reviews, calculations, and engineering and construction documents.


Communication:


As the asset owner representative for Gas Transmission assets within a geographic Area, proactively communicate with numerous organizations throughout PG&E, such as Transmission System Planning, Project Management, Engineering & Estimating, Land Rights, Gas Distribution Engineering and Planning, M&C, GPOM, New Business, General Construction, Real Estate Management, Materials, Applied Technical Services, Gas System Operations, etc. as well as  external parties such as Cal Trans, Cities, Counties, real estate developers, landowners and construction contractors.
