Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering. MIEAust or IChemE equivalent, CPEng and RPEQ.
- Typically, 5-10 years’ experience.
- Experience in the Australian water industry with water utilities focus is essential.
- Technical skills across a broad range of areas within Water and/or Wastewater Treatment/Process discipline.
- Demonstrated experience ‘thinking outside the box’ and challenging the status quo.
- Ability to break down complex problems, develop cohesive strategic responses, and then present to stakeholders to come to an agreement on a preferred way forward.
- Identifies strategic risks, situations where these risks may become problematic during project delivery and informs the project team.
- Interest in the environmental and social impacts of our work and ability to take this into account when developing decision making processes.
- Substantial experience in the process design of water and/or wastewater treatment plant design.
- Hands on experience in Mass Balance/Design basis/Equipment Sizing/PFD/P&ID/FDs.
- Experience in the application of modelling software and/or analytics techniques, including Biowin experience.
- Experience in detailed design and equipment selection.
- Ability to prepare technical reports on small to medium projects and prepare sections of larger reports with minimal correction.
- Experience with plant commissioning would be an asset.
- Ability to act as a project manager or assistant project manager.
- Experience in CHAIR and HAZOP and related safety in design practices and processes.
- Skills to identify risk in small to medium profile projects.
Job Responsibility:
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary national team to deliver projects in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia.
- Manage the day-to-day tasks on multiple projects of varying complexity and size and manage the production and review of concise high-quality technical documentation that effectively present complex information and results to technical and non-technical clients.
- Contribute to successful delivery of projects, including providing technical input, technical review and sign off (as appropriate), and risk management.
- Apply relevant State and Federal legislation as it pertains to water and apply industry standards and guidelines.
- Keep abreast of current water and wastewater technology and provide high technical expertise and innovation in design and procurement of projects.
- Work collaboratively with clients, project stakeholders, and vendors to identify and deliver innovative project outcomes.
- Provide technical contribution to proposals and/or pursuits.
- Participate in company development initiatives.
- Support and mentor staff, including active participation in the Mentoring Program.
- Active involvement in shaping the industry and events through committees, industry bodies, delivery papers etc.
