Qualification:

Education & Experience

  1. Broad range of expertise in all aspects of infection prevention and control, including management of infectious diseases outbreaks

  2. Understand the implications of IPC issues in a broad public health context, and the relevance of these matters for the DHHS and other stakeholders in the community developments.
  3. Excellent problem-solving skills for analysing information and providing advice in various settings
  4. The IPC Knowledge Lead will have sound judgment incorporating skills, knowledge, confidentiality and sensitivity
  5. Work independently and as part of a team
  6. Routine line management is through the IPCAR IPC Operations Lead  

Job Responsibility:

  1. Contribute to, IPC related policies, guidelines, and strategies, as well as educational materials related to IPC for relevant settings. 

  2. Contribute to the education and training program and suite of tools for the department's infection control outreach nurses.
  3. Contribute to IPC functions, engaging with relevant stakeholders from across DH
  4. Liaise with relevant agencies to determine existing strategies, policies and plans, identify and advice on potential education gaps.
  5. Raise awareness through proactive education and advice on IPC strategies in diverse health care and community settings.
  6. Provide IPC advice to support public health investigations into cases of COVID-19 transmission, primarily in community settings, but also in healthcare settings as required.
  7. Stay abreast of important developments in the science and practice of infection IPC, with reference to emerging issues relevant to public health disease prevention and control and provide practical advice on the applications of these developments
  8. Contribute to the provision of expert advice and support to departmental (internal and external) committees on IPC include outbreak management matters as required
