Education & Experience
Master of Science or greater from an accredited university in Statistics, Mathematics, Biostatistics, Quantitative Ecology, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Biology, Chemistry, or related quantitative field
- Minimum 6 years relevant experience (education may substitute for experience)
- Authorship and/or co-authorship in peer-reviewed journals preferred but not required
- Ability to explain statistical concepts to both technical and non-technical English-speaking audiences in both verbal and written formats
- Experience in R programming
- Experience analyzing biological, chemical, and ecological data sets
- Experience in experimental design and power analyses
- Ability to make publication-quality figures
- Experience writing and reviewing academic papers
- Graduate coursework in regression, analysis of variance, generalized linear models, mixed effects models, analysis of categorical data, and multivariate statistics
- Ability to learn, adapt, and explain recent developments in statistics
You will provide statistical consulting services to Federal and non-Federal staff. Typical duties involve analyzing ecological and toxicological data sets, providing guidance to researchers on how to analyze data, explaining advanced statistical and computer programming techniques to EPA staff, contributing to and reviewing manuscripts, and staying current with new developments in the field of statistics.
- Support the USEPA’s mission and work alongside some of our nation’s top scientists
- Active participant in the most recent scientific developments in both ecology and aquatic toxicology at the EPA’s Great Lakes Toxicology and Ecology Division
- Develop a publication record by contributing to publications in high impact journals
