Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field
- Experience in a wet chemistry lab
- Participates in available Technical Advising role networks to improve personal effectiveness and leveraging of best practices.
- Maintains “on call” status for plant unplanned events, emergencies and advising.
- Owns and coaches others on the effective use of logbook, focusing on quality of information entered and appropriate note type/stamp utilization.
- Fulfill the role of Turnaround Manager to ensure the plant is ready to perform maintenance as required and then starts up smoothly after maintenance RTO.
- Demonstrates excellent decision making skills, ability to prioritize appropriately
- Engage in turnaround scope definition, preparation and execution.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills are required.
- Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.
- Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence.
- A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Job Responsibility:
Manages and then safely executes laboratory work requests, maintaining and running relevant laboratory apparatus and testing equipment.
- Develops experimental plans in partnership with Lead Scientist or Technology Leader and executes plans by performing routine and non-standard tasks or procedures of higher complexity.
- Documents work in ELN and reports, as appropriate.
- Equipment ownership and maintenance including calibration and routine maintenance, development of new experimental procedures
- Full participation in safety program including adherence to all safety procedures, engagement at safety meetings, and contribution to and knowledge of MOC process.
- Achieves project goals using technical, role-specific skills and experience.
- Develops a specific expertise within the department and laboratory work group in specific procedures, equipment, or instruments.
- Updates personal knowledge for proper use of equipment via manuals and job aids, logs maintenance activities and calibration results as required.
- Communicates scientific observations to project team or principle investigator and organizes and prepares data tables and charts for inclusion in supported studies
