Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field preferred or equivalent work experience
- Experience with the culturing and colony plating of microorganisms
- Careful data and sample management skills
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work as a team member, as well as individually
- Experience working in a Biological Safety Cabinet
- Microbiology experience
- Familiarity with UNIX, Windows, and Macintosh operating systems
- Structured Query Languages (SQL)
- Ability to multi-task
Job Responsibility:
Culture microorganisms, including pathogens, and measure the bactericidal efficiency the sterilization device.
- Measure the effects on organismal growth with and without sterilization.
- Perform general molecular biological and microbiological protocols.
- Minimal computational analysis of data using industry-standard analysis tools.
- Troubleshoot problems to ensure uninterrupted and reliable production.
- Maintain accurate notebook of experiments performed.
- Update production databases in a timely fashion.
- Conduct routine housekeeping and restock materials in laboratory areas on an as needed basis.
- Maintain work area in compliance with LBNL environmental, health and safety regulations.
- Report progress and experimental results at weekly group meetings.
- Maintain laboratory equipment
